We require that all applicants initiate an unsolicited proposal—accepted only in the Building Human Capital, Pioneer and Vulnerable Populations program areas—by submitting a three-page brief proposal using the application form provided below. There are no specific submission deadlines for unsolicited proposals.
Before starting a brief proposal, please review the guidelines of What We Fund for the Building Human Capital, Pioneer and Vulnerable Populations program areas. To receive a fair and comprehensive review from the Foundation, all proposals must address the strategic objectives of one of these three program areas and fall within the guidelines of the types of proposals that we fund.
Follow the instructions outlined in the brief proposal form. You are asked to provide the following information about the project:

RWJF will confirm receipt of your brief proposal via e-mail within two weeks.
The Pioneer portfolio employs a different proposal process. Please review Pioneer's strategic objectives to determine whether there is a fit between your project and RWJF's Pioneer strategy. As you prepare your brief proposal, please follow the submission guidelines for Pioneer.
The Pioneer Portfolio seeks innovative projects that can lead to fundamental breakthroughs in health and health care. Similar to research and development investments in the for-profit sector, the projects in the Pioneer Portfolio are future-oriented and often look to nontraditional sources and fields to make significant improvements in health.
If you have any questions, or need additional information, please contact our Office of Proposal Management via e-mail or at (877) 843-RWJF (7953), Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern time.
