Stephanie M. Weiss

Research Associate

Stephanie Weiss, Sc.M., joined the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation in October 2006 as a research associate working in the areas of preventing childhood obesity and tobacco cessation. She also assists the Foundation's Distinguished Fellowship Program in identifying and pursuing research and research-related projects and translating findings into national practice and policy. Weiss views her work as "a valuable part of the process of helping to create healthier communities."

Previously, Weiss served as a research assistant with the Harvard Prevention Research Center on Nutrition and Physical Activity and the Harvard School of Public Health—Division of Public Health Practice. While at Harvard, she worked on a study with the YMCA to help create healthy after-school environments, and collected and analyzed data for the Irish Pub Study which examined indoor air quality in a global sample of smoke-free and smoking-permitted Irish pubs. During an internship with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, she helped to plan and implement a workshop to examine issues related to regulating food and beverage advertising to children and childhood obesity. She also served as a research associate with the American Institutes for Research in Washington, D.C.

Weiss received her Sc.M. from the Harvard School of Public Health and her B.A. from the University of Maryland.

Raised in Bucks County, Pa., she currently resides in Philadelphia. She enjoys travel and rowing.
