The Foundation's Mental Health Services Program for Youth was designed to improve mental health services for seriously mentally ill children and youth through the development of comprehensive service systems under the aegis of multi-agency, state-community partnerships that can make major changes in financing, organization, and delivery of services. This grant supports supplemental planning and development of the evaluation of the Mental Health Services Program for Youth. Information required to complete the evaluation design, including the scope of the program's management information system and the details of the intervention in the funded sites, are not yet available. This grant will allow the evaluators to work with the National Program Office and the program sites to develop data collection strategies and instruments to complete the detailed evaluation design. Data for this effort will be collected through site visit interviews with the funded sites and meetings with the National Program Office and the Foundation staff. The expected outcomes will be a fully specified evaluation design, all data collection instruments, and a summary report describing the planning process as well as the state and local organizational changes taking place as part of the program. This grant is being awarded to Brandeis University where Dr. Saxe has moved since leaving Boston University.
