The Foundation's program, New Jersey Health Initiatives, was designed to support projects in New Jersey that develop new approaches to resolving the state's health care needs, focusing on the Foundation's goal areas.Under this project, a new model of services for the elderly and disabled will be developed and tested. It is expected to provide quality, culturally sensitive services, as well as employment opportunities for low-income Latinas. A total of 30 women will be recruited and trained as paraprofessionals to provide home health care to Latino clients. The feasibility of creating a worker-owned cooperative will also be explored. Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement is anticipated by the end of the grant period.
