Technical assistance and direction for the Cash & Counseling Program
The Foundation's Cash & Counseling program was designed to provide an expansion of a proven model of consumer-directed supportive services to more states, allowing thousands more older adults and people with disabilities to have choice and control over the care they receive.Under this grant, the University of Maryland Center on Aging will provide technical assistance and direction to four states that were selected to conduct "cash and counseling" demonstrations (Arkansas, Florida, New Jersey, and New York). During the one-year period of this grant, the National Program Office will: monitor the progress of the four grantee states; conduct site visits to each state to assess implementation activities and determine technical assistance needs; plan and convene an annual grantee meeting; provide technical assistance and identify experts to consult on specific needs (e.g., communications, quality improvement, securing federal waivers); and disseminate program materials to the public and private sectors through national meetings (e.g., those of the Gerontological Society and the American Society on Aging) and journal articles and book chapters.
