Cash & Counseling

The Foundation's Cash & Counseling program was designed to provide an expansion of a proven model of consumer-directed supportive services to more states, allowing thousands more older adults and people with disabilities to have choice and control over the care they receive.This project is designed to: demonstrate that consumers of long-term care services can more effectively use these resources when they have greater control over choice and delivery of services and related purchases; empower people with disabilities and their families to make choices about purchases that best meet their needs from both formal and informal sources; provide incentives to consumers and their families to make cost-effective purchases and to participate in the management of service delivery; and demonstrate the use of consultant services, which become less intensive over time, to provide assistance to consumers in making purchases related to their long-term care needs.
