The Foundation's program, New Jersey Health Initiatives, was designed to support projects in New Jersey that develop new approaches to resolving the state's health care needs, focusing on the Foundation's goal areas.Low-income pregnant and parenting teens and single parents ages 14 to 30 are the target population of this project. The goal is to provide a comprehensive array of prevention and health services including early childhood assessment and education, family counseling, violence prevention, health education, parenting skills, and substance abuse prevention. A community mentor will be matched to each family. The program is designed to decrease child abuse and neglect and to improve overall physical and emotional health of these families.
