The Foundation's program, Covering Kids: A National Health Access Initiative for Low-Income, Uninsured Children, was designed to help states and local communities increase the number of eligible children who benefit from health insurance coverage programs.Working through broad state-local coalitions, this project will facilitate state and local efforts to: (1) design and conduct outreach programs that identify and enroll eligible children into Medicaid and other coverage programs; (2) simplify enrollment processes; and (3) coordinate existing coverage programs for low-income children. The purpose of this project is to complement new and on-going federal, state, and private-sector activities to expand coverage to children and to involve private sector organizations and traditional child advocacy organizations in an effort to ensure better health outcomes for the children in this state.
