The Foundation's program, Depression in Primary Care: Linking Clinical and System Strategies, was designed to increase the use of effective treatment models in primary care settings for patients with depression.Depression is the fourth leading cause of disability and over the next 20 years is estimated to become the second leading cause of disability worldwide. The costs of depression in the U.S. are estimated between $30 and $53 billion in lost productivity and direct medical costs. Increased recognition and improved treatment of depression in primary care settings is key to addressing this problem. This grant supports the provision of technical assistance and direction for the Depression in Primary Care program
