The National Adult Day Services Association (NADSA) until recently was a constituent unit of the National Council on the Aging. It lacked the visibility of most national provider associations, and it offered limited member benefits in the areas of education and training. With the recent decision by NADSA to become an independent entity, the time is right to transition the knowledge and technical expertise of the RWJF Partners in Caregiving (PIC) program staff to NADSA. To leverage past Foundation investments, a strong membership organization with adequate education services is necessary to sustain and further the field. This grant provides support for: (1) a director of training and education; (2) regional workshops, annual conferences and a technical assistance hotline; (3) consulting services from PIC staff; and (4) development of training products. The project will be considered successful if the planned training and educational activities are performed in such a way that the field finds them valuable enough to support on a membership or fee-for-service basis.
