Laying the groundwork and providing a framework for an early warning system to identify physicians at risk for performance issues

This grant supports the groundwork for an early warning system that will enable state medical boards, hospitals, and other entities identify physicians who are at risk of performance issues. It will: (1) describe and characterize the typology of performance issues that state medical boards and hospitals encounter in licensed physicians; and (2) provide a framework for the physician assessment and remedial interventions that these organizations may implement to address proactively the needs of physicians with performance issues. The project will be considered successful if these two project components are completed.
