This grant provided partial support for the Summit for a Healthy Georgia held November 29-30, 2005. The objective of the Summit was to redesign how the Division of Public Health works in the broader system to improve the health of Georgians. The Summit convened approximately 750 participants, including local and state public health officials, health care providers, payers, media, elected officials, and other stakeholders across the State of Georgia. The format of the Summit was designed to gather input, set priorities, construct solutions and recommend further actions. By the end of the Summit, a public health vision, change framework, and agenda were delineated. The participants were charged to bring the change framework back to their organizations and communities in order to work on local implementation. The change process focused on partnership collaboration and system-wide health improvement.
