The Foundation's Active Living Research program was designed to support investigator-initiated research to identify and assess structural, environmental, and policy changes with the potential to increase population levels of physical activity. This grant provides supplemental funds for a study originally funded by the Foundation's Healthy Eating Research (HER) program in its Round 1 funding focusing on school food policy environments and policies that are most likely to affect students' diet and obesity in a national sample. This HER supplemental grant will add to the HER Round 1 grant by including school physical activity policies on student outcomes of BMI and obesity. Data on school physical activity policies will come from a variety of state and local physical activity policies. Potential physical activity measures will be coded to all for comparisons with school nutrition policies being studied in the HER Round 1 grant.
