The Foundation's Active Living Research program was designed to support investigator-initiated research to identify and assess structural, environmental, and policy changes with the potential to increase population levels of physical activity. This project provides supplemental funds for a study originally funded under the Foundation's Healthy Eating Research (HER) program in its Round 1 funding focusing on school wellness policy implementation in the Atlanta Public School (APS) system. This HER supplemental grant will add to the HER Round 1 grant by including school physical activity policies in the analysis of school wellness policy implementation. Data on school physical activity policies will come from existing data from APS, wellness policy documents submitted by each school to APS, an online survey of school leaders, and interviews with APS staff at each school. Analyses hope to provide answers to the question of which potential influences on school policies and their implementation are most powerful.
