The Foundation's initiative, Evaluating Innovations in Nursing Education, was designed to identify, evaluate and disseminate innovative strategies to increase the teaching capacity of nursing schools, as well as to promote the recruitment and retention of nurse faculty, with the long-term goal of educating more students.Rutgers, The State University, Center for State Health Policy will serve as the National Program Office for this Foundation program. This planning grant will support program development activities including: field work to find projects that exemplify the types of applicants appropriate for this initiative; establish criteria to help identify relevant innovations and sound evaluation plans; researching and determining the appropriate application and selection process; identifying candidates for the initiative's National Advisory Committee; planning for national convening for applicants; establishing the program office staff and infrastructure; and developing online resources for applicants including the initiative's Web site, frequently asked questions materials, and technical assistance for applicants.
