Health services research summit to assess future data and methods challenges
With health care costs soaring and diagnostic and therapeutic options proliferating, there will be increased demand for health services research (HSR). As the demand for HSR grows, there is a question about whether the field has the capacity to adequately respond. The infrastructure needed includes quality data sources and rigorous and practical research methods. To examine the challenges and propose solutions, AcademyHealth will hold a summit of leading stakeholders on the future of HSR data and methods. In preparation for the summit, AcademyHealth will convene an advisory committee and commission 12 papers for the meeting. After the summit, AcademyHealth will publish a book or special issue of a journal on the topic.
