The Foundation's initiative, Evaluating Innovations in Nursing Education, was designed to identify, evaluate and disseminate innovative strategies to increase the teaching capacity of nursing schools, as well as to promote the recruitment and retention of nurse faculty, with the long-term goal of educating more students.During this first year, the National Program Office (NPO), located at Rutgers, The State University, Institute for Health, Health Care Policy and Aging Research, will complete the hiring of staff for the program and be responsible for all activities associated with outreach and selection of nine sites for funding. These activities include: writing the Call for Proposal and application documents; Web site development; coordinating and participating in all site selection activities; and providing evaluation technical assistance for 15 semi-finalists. The NPO will work closely with the Foundation in developing the roles and responsibilities of the initiative's National Advisory Committee. An administrative support organization will be used to help expedite the process for the program's first round of funding. Deliverables will include the CFP and Application module documents, Web content and a written plan for providing evaluation technical assistance to the semi-finalists. Activities associated with the second round of funding will also be initiated during this funding period.
