Harold Amos Medical Faculty Development Program - Kim F. Rhoads, M.D., M.S., M.P.H.
The Foundation's Harold Amos Medical Faculty Development Program was designed to provide four-year postdoctoral research awards offered to historically disadvantaged physicians who are committed to developing careers in academic medicine, to improving the health of underserved populations, and to furthering the understanding and elimination of health disparities.The applicant hypothesizes that clustering of minority patients within certain types of hospitals--those where resource constraints underpin limited quality--may explain poor cancer outcomes. The purpose of this project is to investigate that using a large statewide, all-payor cancer database. The impact of individual factors (medical and social) as well as hospital characteristics on readmissions, appropriate receipt of adjuvant therapy and survival will be evaluated.
