This grant will provide continued support of the State Health Access Data Assistance Center (SHADAC) at the University of Minnesota's School of Public Health. SHADAC's work focuses on increasing policymakers' use, understanding and collection of state and national health care data by: (1) providing technical assistance to policymakers in their use of state, local and federal data; (2) monitoring data on the number and characteristics of the uninsured; and (3) evaluating health policy reforms. Since 2000, SHADAC's data and survey expertise has been significant in the efforts of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to expand coverage. It is expected that SHADAC will continue to play an important role as information brokers, particularly as debates over health care reform begin in Washington. The project's deliverables include reports and briefs, intensive technical assistance, convening activities, and development of the program's Web site as a resource for policymakers, analysts and the media.
