The Foundation's initiative, Evaluating Innovations in Nursing Education, was designed to identify, evaluate and disseminate innovative strategies to increase the teaching capacity of nursing schools, as well as to promote the recruitment and retention of nurse faculty, with the long-term goal of educating more students. This grant provides continued support for the National Program Office (NPO) of the Evaluating Innovations in Nursing Education program. This year's activities include: provide support and technical assistance for the first cycle of grantees beginning in the fall 2009; develop and release the round two call for proposals; and coordinate all site selection activities for round two and provide evaluation technical assistance for up to twenty semi-finalists. An administrative support organization will be used to help expedite the process for the program's call for proposals. The NPO will engage its National Advisory Committee during the selection process and as needed for technical assistance. Another key activity of the NPO is its continued Web site development and maintenance of both a public site as well as an extranet site for grantees. Finally, the NPO will coordinate their activities in close collaboration with the Foundation and other programs to enhance synergy.
