Developing federal policy and strategies to take permanent supportive housing to scale nationally

This project will design an integrated federal-policy framework to take permanent supportive housing (PSH) to scale for people with disabilities who are homeless, most at risk of homelessness, institutionalized and at greatest risk of institutionalization. The Technical Assistance Collaborative (TAC) will work with the relevant federal agencies to develop cross-agency funding policies to produce PSH opportunities through new federal initiatives, such as housing choice vouchers and Medicaid. TAC, supported by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the Melville Charitable Trust, developed a cross-disability, systems-oriented PSH approach for Louisiana in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. That approach will serve as the model for developing federal policy. Deliverables will include a meeting of senior cross-agency federal officials, state officials, private foundations and other investors to develop recommendations for proceeding with a public-private initiative for taking PSH to scale.
