Conducting a meta-analysis of Phase 2 of Project HealthDesign

The Foundation's program, Project HealthDesign: Rethinking the Power and Potential of Personal Health Records, was designed to expand a vision of personal health records and encourage the market to develop products that meet the diverse needs of patients. This project will conduct a cross-project, retrospective meta-analysis of Project HealthDesign, Phase 2. In this phase, the goal was to learn how observations of daily living could inform health care and patient self-care. RWJF funded five grantees. This study will answer two questions: (1) What are the cross-project findings from Phase 2 of Project HealthDesign; and (2) what are researchers', clinicians' and patients' attitudes and experiences in using the tools of information technology to collect observations of daily living? This study's findings have three key audiences: academics, policymakers, and RWJF leaders. The project will reach these audiences by delivering the following products: one to two scholarly papers published in peer-reviewed journals (academic audience); one to two policy briefs, or one-pagers (policy audience); and a summary of preliminary findings and interim and final reports of study results (RWJF audience).
