The Foundation's program, Healthy Eating Research: Building Evidence to Prevent Childhood Obesity, was designed to support investigator-initiated research to identify and assess environmental and policy influences with the greatest potential to improve healthy eating and weight patterns among the nation's children.This grant supports continued technical assistance and direction for the Healthy Eating Research (HER) program. Under this project, a range of activities will be carried out, including managing application and review processes for the 2012 Call for Proposals, including Healthy Eating Research New Connections solicitation and a greater emphasis on rapid and quick strike studies and commissioned analyses to advance RWJF's four nutrition-related policy advocacy priorities; commissioned papers, research briefs, syntheses and analyses; enhanced efforts to connect with policymakers, advocates and other end-users; continued collaborative partnerships with other RWJF programs and other funders; field-building activities, such as the 2013 HER Annual Grantee Meeting, grantee working group coordination and technical assistance; nimble responses to requests from government agencies, advocacy organizations/groups, and policymakers; and program evaluation activities.
