This grant supports a study to measure current primary care access. Coverage expansion has important implications for access, and the value of coverage is dependent upon the ability to access care. Monitoring access to care provides information about the adequacy of primary care capacity. Most information about access to care comes from household or physician surveys. This project will take a different approach, audit methodology, which uses simulated consumers to measure access to care under a variety of scenarios. The major deliverable will be a report on baseline estimates of primary care access by insurance status in 10 selected states for nonelderly adults.
