This grant supports active participation by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) in the Institute of Medicine (IOM) Global Forum on Innovation in Health Professional Education (Forum). IOM, taking inspiration from the RWJF-IOM Future of Nursing report and the Lancet Commission report, designed the Forum as a three-year effort to convene key U.S. and international stakeholders in six public forums to discuss contemporary issues in health professional education and support an ongoing, innovative mechanism to incubate and evaluate new ideas. RWJF is one of approximately 30 associations that are members in this forum. This project supports the Foundation's Human Capital team's efforts to enhance interprofessional education and collaboration and develop a diverse, well trained workforce and leadership to lead health and health care now and in the future. Project deliverables will include creation of a unique, neutral, convening platform for multidisciplinary and multisectoral dialogue on educational innovations to identify more effective and efficient strategies for health care delivery and population health, as well as a final report describing state-of-the-art information on health professional education across the world.
