This grant supports an evaluation by the New Jersey Hospital Association (NJHA) of a federally funded project to decrease variability in patient demand at hospitals, reduce resource utilization, expand capacity, and improve quality and patient safety. This project will help 19 selected New Jersey hospitals identify areas for improvement in patient and operations outcomes, and calculate return-on-investment projections. NJHA will solicit applications from experienced evaluators and/or firms to: (1) develop an overall evaluation plan; (2) create an evaluation framework that correlates with information to be assessed in coordination with hospitals, NJHA and its partners; (3) collect data, provide reports, and complete the evaluation; and (4) help inform the viability of replicating and implementing this hospital improvement model and methodology in other states.
