In 1999, the Foundation began to focus its efforts to improve access to care on three strategies: expand coverage for children and the working uninsured; reduce the difficulty the uninsured and other vulnerable populations have getting care; and help those with health insurance keep it.
In the future, the Foundation expects to continue its efforts to raise awareness, disseminate information, and mobilize support for coverage expansion and retention, particularly on behalf of children. This work will include additional communications activities, analytic activities focusing on the future of health insurance coverage, and support for targeted innovations and demonstration projects. At the same time, efforts to secure and improve carefor the underserved will continue. Taken together, this work will help advance the goal of assuring access to care for all Americans at a reasonable cost.
