Medical Screening Exams
Patients are given a medical screening exam when they arrive at the emergency department (ED) and assigned a level of urgency based on their symptoms. The hospital then implements a standard protocol for each patient depending on their level of urgency. This system allows urgent patients to get help more quickly and helps direct non-urgent patients to appropriate care.
