Medical Admit Unit

In order to reduce the burden on the emergency department (ED) of admitted patients waiting for an inpatient bed, a medical admit unit was created. In the medical admit unit, which is located in the ED, patients receive care from inpatient doctors, nurses, and staff. The medical admit unit is operated only during a specified period of time each day (10 p.m. to 11 a.m.) when additional space is available in the ED.
