The Bay Area Regional Health Inequities Initiative (BARHII) and Public Health Law & Policy (PHLP) have joined to help broaden the platform of public health work on the built environment and also to direct the public health work more explicitly and equitably among communities to reduce the inequitable distribution of preventable illness and premature death.
Many of the conditions that influence health, and the inequitable distribution of preventable illness and premature death, are rooted in land use, transportation, economic development and redevelopment, and in the quality of our air, water and soil that is affected by human usage.
