Grounded in the perspective that preventing injury and illness before they occur is the most effective pathway to equitable health, The Health Equity and Prevention Primer examines historical and current causes of inequities in health care and lays out opportunities and directions for a more equitable future. The primer is a Web-based training series for public health practitioners and advocates interested in achieving health equity through the paths of policy advocacy, community change and multi-sector engagement. With guidance from local health department staff and national health equity experts, the primer includes brief, interactive presentations, selected links and resources to build knowledge about health equity, and familiarity with promising strategies to improve community health.
