In 2008, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation awarded a five-year grant to the Center for Mississippi Health Policy to evaluate the impact of the Mississippi Healthy Students Act and associated regulations on childhood obesity.

This article examines the utility of site visits in the assessment of childhood obesity prevention projects in schools. Researchers found that the site visits, conducted using community-based participatory research principles, were helpful in assessing the success of the programs.
