1. Organization
The Foundation is an organization exempt from Federal income taxation under Section 501(c)(3) and is a private foundation as described in Section 509(a) of the Internal Revenue Code. The Foundation’s mission is to improve the health and health care of all Americans.
The Foundation concentrates its grantmaking in four goal areas:
- to assure that all Americans have access to quality health care at reasonable cost;
- to improve the quality of care and support for people with chronic health conditions;
- to promote healthy communities and lifestyles; and
- to reduce the personal, social and economic harm caused by substance abuse—tobacco, alcohol and illicit drugs.
