Texas College, Goodwill Partner to Offer Medical Certification Programs

Alamo Colleges in San Antonio and Goodwill Industries plan to partner to offer select medical certification programs, the San Antonio Business Journal reports. The Good Careers Academy will offer a six-week Certified Nursing Aide program, which will include basic training and the first round of exam testing. The course will cost participants approximately $500. The academy will also offer a medical front office certification program that includes instruction on office administration, medical billing and coding, patient privacy regulations and insurance vocabulary. The four-month program, which will be led by a San Antonio College professor, will cost approximately $575 and include the first round of exam testing necessary to obtain certification. Tuition discounts are available to those who qualify, with some students eligible to receive as much as a 25 percent tuition discount. Goodwill is also offering classes in several non-medical career fields, including information technology (IT) technician training and IT networks certification (Phinisee, San Antonio Business Journal, 9/3/09).
