Missouri Educational Facilities Announce Plans for Dual Degree Program

Springfield, Mo.-based Drury University and Cox College have announced plans to begin offering a dual-enrollment nursing program, the Ozarks First reports. Slated to launch in fall 2010, the program will allow students to obtain a professional nursing degree at Cox before transferring to Drury to earn a bachelor's degree. School officials expect the new program to attract high school graduates who are interested in pursuing a nursing career but desire a liberal arts education and a traditional campus experience. In addition, school officials predict that the program, which can be completed in four or five years, depending on whether a student chooses to enroll in summer courses, will result in a new pool of nursing talent for the state (Ozarks First, 10/30/09; Murphy, KSMU, 10/30/09).
