A Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) staff member since 2009, Ari Kramer leads efforts to help realize the strategic potential of knowledge generated through RWJF's grantmaking.
Ari oversees RWJF’s knowledge management strategy and supporting activities and resources that enable key organizational knowledge to be easily captured, discovered, and shared. Extending the reach of his work at RWJF, Ari also works with colleagues in similar roles at other leading foundations on efforts to help advance the free flow of valuable sector knowledge across the philanthropic field.
In previous positions, Ari served as a manager on RWJF's digital communications team, leading content development and publication on the Foundation’s primary digital platform, RWJF.org, and related functions such as taxonomy development and search engine optimization that enable effective knowledge presentation and sharing. He also provided strategic communications support for Foundation initiatives focusing on public and community health, with a particular emphasis on digital content and outreach.
Prior to joining RWJF, Ari served as manager of communications and member services for the Council of New Jersey Grantmakers, overseeing educational programs and publications and helping to establish shared KM infrastructure to improve knowledge exchange with peer philanthropy associations. Before that, he spent several years as a reporter and freelance writer covering topics such as housing, transportation, and economic development for a broad range of news and industry publications.
Ari holds a Master of Science in Journalism from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and a BS in International Affairs and BA in Russian from Florida State University.
