Martina Todaro
Program Officer, Research-Evaluation-Learning
Martina Todaro joined the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) in 2018. Working in the Foundation’s Research-Evaluation-Learning department, she supports RWJF research efforts and provides guidance to grantees and others interested in discovering potential solutions to improve health, equity, and well-being. She views her role as “supporting the Foundation’s pursuit of solutions to key health issues and helping to foster a Culture of Health.”
Previously, Martina was a research associate for the Institute for Community Health (ICH) in Malden, Mass. ICH serves as a resource for community-based research and evaluation, health assessment, technical assistance, and dissemination. Her work involved providing research and evaluation support to more than eight projects that spanned a range of public health issues.
Earlier, she served as a consultant to YW Boston, a nonprofit dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all. At YW she provided technical assistance in developing a focus group guide on women’s health and conducted preliminary data analysis on the program.
In other roles, Martina worked as an evaluation coordinator; a program performance and evaluation intern; a researcher for the Middlebury Institute of International Studies; an evaluator for the California Breastfeeding Coalition; and a data intern for Fair Trade USA. She has also volunteered as a medical advocate and peer supervisor for the Boston Area Rape Crisis Center.
Born in Vicenza, Italy, Martina earned her BA in Translation and Interpretation from the University of Triest in Triest, Italy. She received an MPA in data analysis from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies in Monterey, Calif.
She presently resides in West Windsor, N.J. with her husband and two cats, and enjoys baking, yoga, and distance running. Whenever she can, she and her husband travel to Italy and China to visit her family and take short trips to explore new cities in the United States and Canada.
